Poop. Not something everyone likes to talk about, a “tapoo” if you will, but here at FoodMarble we don’t shy away from the topic. So much so that one of the newest features we’ve added to the FoodMarble app is poop logging.

You may be wondering why poop logging is so important. Well, a bowel movement is the last stop in your food’s journey through your digestive tract. It is what’s left after your digestive system absorbs all the nutrients and fluid from your food and drinks. As such, observing the shape, texture, size, smell, colour and frequency of your poop can often be a good indication of your overall digestion and health. For example, if your stool consists of separate hard lumps, or is sausage-shaped but lumpy, that can be an indication of constipation. This occurs when stool passes through the large intestine too slowly. On the other extreme, if your stool consists of mushy, fluffy, pieces with ragged edges or is entirely liquid, this is an indication of diarrhea. This occurs when stool passes through the large intestine too quickly.

Track your poop in the FoodMarble AIRE app

With the addition of the new Menu, logging and tracking your poop (as well as other things like stress and sleep) is very quick and simple. We have implemented the Bristol Stool Scale to further simplify your poop logging experience. The Bristol Stool Scale classifies poop into seven categories based on shape and texture, allowing you to easily categorize your poop.

We have also added a poop chart to the trends screen on the app. Each data point shows your average poop score for any given day. This allows you to easily spot trends in your poop over long periods of time.

Pooping is a natural and important part of life. We shouldn’t be shy to talk about it. In fact, keeping an eye on what comes out of us is an important indication of what’s going on inside of us. So don’t be afraid to look before you flush!
